A West Texas Aoudad Hunt with Q

A West Texas Aoudad Hunt with Q

In the rugged backcountry of West Texas, the Q team set out to test more than just gear. They put themselves and their rifles through the kind of terrain that punishes every weak link. Chasing Aoudad across steep ridge lines and brutal sun scorched valleys, their goal was simple: get it done, no matter the cost.

This is where Spartan gear comes into its own.

Armed with 8.6 Blackout, running Mega FIX prototypes, and outfitted with top-tier suppressor setups, every part of their system had to hold up. That includes the bipod. What they ran for this hunt was the Q-Sert Adapter for Disc-Lok™ combined with the Vidarr Bipod. It’s a setup built to thrive where everything else gets chewed up and left behind.

What is the Q-Sert Adapter for Disc Lok?

The Q-Sert Adapter for Disc Lok™ is made to bolt directly into rifles with Q-Sert compatible forends. Once attached, it acts as the connection point for your Spartan gear.

This version of the adapter features our Disc-Lok™ Technology, which uses a mechanical locking ring to physically secure your bipod or tripod in place. The Disc-Lok™ also adds a second layer of security preventing accidental rotation or detachment during heavy recoil or uneven movement.

If you're running a Q-Sert rifle and want to connect with a semi-permanent attachment, the Disc-Lok™ version is built for that job.

Why would you use the Vidarr Bipod for Hunting?

The Vidarr Bipod wasn’t originally built with hunting in mind. It was designed for PRS and competition-style shooting, where shooters want a bipod that stays mounted, locks up solid, and offers four leg pitch positions to adapt to barricades, uneven ground, or fast transitions.

However, Cody chose to run the Vidarr on his Q Mega Fix, blending his tactical setup with hunting purpose. It was his personal choice, and it worked. In the steep, fast-paced terrain of aoudad country, where every shot needs stability and every second matters, the Vidarr gave him the edge he wanted.

It’s not a traditional hunting bipod. But for Cody, it was the right fit.

The Moment of Truth

Aoudad are unforgiving targets. You will not get five chances. You might not even get two. It is one opportunity, often at long range, often after hours of sweat and silence. Former Navy SEAL Terry Houin knows the stakes and trusts our gear when it matters most.

With the Q-Sert Adapter for Disc-Lok™, the Vidarr Bipod stayed exactly where it needed to be. The team had a stable shooting platform that let them focus on the shot, not the setup.
