Feels solid

"I haven’t had a chance to use it in the field yet, but I will be doing so in April. Initial impressions are it’s very nice and well built. Looking forward to using it. I have a pretty heavy rifle and it’s still holds it well."

Extremely stable and versatile tripod

"I have tripods from most major companies on the market, and the Ascent hits the sweet spot between a stiff/solid support platform that cuts vibration in the wind that is still light and versatile for mountain hunting. Tall enough to stand and glass but still able to flatten out and shoot prone. Pairing with the Davros Pro makes swapping between heavy optics to a rifle a breeze."

Best Tripod on the market

"This is by far the steadiest tripod that I have found. I am comfortable shooting out to 600-800 yards off this from a kneeling position and it is still light enough to stay in my pack throughout a back country hunt. More importantly I lost the bottom section of one of the legs on my last hunt and they just sent me a new leg no questions asked. I cannot say enough good about this company!"

Buy once cry once

"The best tripod on the market. Lightweight, easy to use, Poles unscrew and handles are provided so you can use as walking sticks on your descent down the mountain. Packs easily, Can be used with bino adapter for glassing as well. Magnetic riflescope adapters provide solid lock and quick release. You won't be disappointed and should last a lifetime with good care."

The missing piece for long distance shooting

"Spartan products are without equal. I didn’t realize how much I needed them until I started using them. I started with one bipod, then a second, then my first tripod came shortly after. I now have five bipods and three tripods. Once I started shooting off of a tripod, big game hunting changed for me altogether. Once you’ve shot long distance off a tripod it will completely change the way you hunt. You gain more confidence in long distance shots. I always have an assent tripod strapped to my pack, and I always have a springbok bipod in my hand. The springbok is almost like a magic trick, and it’s nice to be able to use quickly to set your gun down when it’s time for lunch. I love buying Spartan products, because I know that I’m buying from people that are passionate about the industry. I’ve never seen a company in the hunting industry that continues to push The outer limits of what’s possible the way they do. And there’s no other company out there that responds to customer feedback the way they do. The only problem with their products, is that they continue to improve upon them. Luckily, I have friends that I hunt with that all have Spartan attachments on their rifles now, and they mooch off of me. Thanks again, Mr. G and his team of mad scientists! Also…FYI, if you aren’t familiar with FHF gear, take a look. They have amazing solutions for storing your Spartan items on-person!"

Ascent Tripod

"I have around 200 days in the field with this system, so I feel this is a fairly honest review. I typically hunt Bighorn sheep, elk and deer with this system. I have used it to shoot off of, set up with my spotting scope, emergency shelter poles and with my tent system. The good: Customer Service, top notch service. Overall well made and convenient for backcountry hunting. Although it is not the most rugged and stable tripod to shoot off of, it has worked well for me and my kids on multiple animals at ranges up to 450 yards. It is stable for utilizing for most spotting scope situations. We tend to get high winds in this area and nothing seems to stabilize very well in 80kmh winds. Once you have all the components it is a very handy system, it's very quick to switch from the spotting scope to a rifle. If you are using the trekking pole system, it does take extra time to get set up. The ball head seems to work well, I prefer a pan head, however I have learned how to utilize it and it works well and locks in tight with optics and rifles. The bad: Did I mention they have great customer service. I have had 4 legs replaced, I bent one during a hunting trip, they replaced this with no issues. I had an issue with 3 legs collapsing under load, it seems worse if they were wet. These were replaced and the new legs so far have worked well. Both the baskets tore on the same trip, i had to use duct tape to secure them in place as the poles would just punch through into the dirt. I have not ordered new ones yet. I have lost multiple tips, including one treking poles tip. I do find them hard to tighten and they always seem to loosen off. I have tried blue lock tight and this seems to help for awhile, but always seems to lossen off. I can not get the connection between the ball head and the base tight and it is always spinning loose. It took alot of time and money to get my system together. I am not sure why they seel this system in pieces. The parts are very hard to find in Canada, I have ordered directly from Spartan, shipping was quick. However very expensive by the time you gets the parts here. It would be handy if they included all the parts so you can utilize the system right out of the box, this would add a cost to the end user, however acceptable."

Great Tripod

"Versatile tripod, Bought this for use with my Weatherby Backcountry Guide 7mm PRC and it has not disappointed. Easy to use and provides a great stable platform for hunting. Also can be used for glassing with the additional heads that are available."

TROY B. (5/5)

Execellent tripod but pricey

"The functionality of this tripod is excellent. Quality materials and feels very sturdy. I own several Spartan products and this one was on the high side for pricing in my opinion. I realize several companies charge nearly 1,000 for a tripod, but that doesn’t make it sensible. I make a good living and took over 6 months to mentally justify this purchase. I bet you could sell three times as many at $500 price point. The only improvement would be a trigger like deployment for extending the legs. That may come with an issue of being wobbly, but I bet you can figure it out. Thank you for another great product!"

Worth every penny

"Lightweight but strong as an ox. This essential piece of backcountry equipment is leaps and bounds ahead of their competitors. One of the most well constructed and thought out pieces I have ever laid hands on. If you are looking for that game changer to take your western big game hunting to the next level, your hunt stops here."
