Assembly

The Ascent Tripod is supplied disassembled for easier transport and packaging. Assembly is simple and only takes a few moments. To assemble the tripod, screw each leg into the body of the Ascent by rotating the legs clockwise until they are securely fitted.

Attaching Your Rifle

The Ascent Tripod is supplied with the Davros Pro Head Gen 2, which allows rifles to be attached using Spartan’s Classic Adapter system. To mount your rifle, ensure a Classic Adapter is installed on your rifle stock. Align the tripod spigot with the slot on the adapter and guide it into position. The integrated magnet helps locate the spigot and secure the connection.

To remove the rifle from the Davros Pro head, pull the rifle upward from the spigot. In some cases, pushing upward on the underside of the rifle stock with your thumb can help release the connection.

Attaching Optics and Cameras

The Ascent Tripod can also be used as a stable platform for optics and cameras. Using Spartan’s range of optics adapters, you can mount spotting scopes, binoculars, cameras, or other equipment with standard 1/4-20 UNC or 3/8-16 UNC photographic threads.

This allows the Ascent Tripod to function as both a shooting support and a reliable glassing platform in the field.

Operating the Davros Pro Gen 2 Head

The Davros Pro Gen 2 provides an incredibly stable but adjustable platform where you have complete and utter control of the orientation of your Optic/rifle.

It features a twist-style knurled control knob for smooth panning, which is perfect for glassing or shooting where you need to maintain a level platform over long distances. At the base of the panning structure you will find a degree indicator designed for passing on a bearing to the shooter or another glasser.

It also features a Ball Head Friction control wheel so you can manipulate your equipment for effortless movement but when it's vital to lock in to your target, you can do so with ease.

You also have the friction lock to completely lock up the ball head which can be found on the end of the friction wheel.

The Davros Pro Gen 2 Head has the ability to turn the spigot 90°. This allows you to take portrait camera shots and pan optics with ease from the side of the tripod.

Leg Pitch Positions

The Ascent Tripod features multiple leg pitch positions, allowing it to adapt to steep terrain, uneven ground, or low shooting positions. To adjust the leg angle, pull the latch located at the shoulder of the leg and move the leg to the desired position. To drop down each latch position, move the leg back to its closed position and the latch will close incrementally down the 4 leg pitches.

Note: If the shoulder latch does not adjust automatically, this will be due to the tension spring on the underside of the leg shoulder, this can be tightened or loosened as desired.

Central Column Adjustment

The knurled collar adjusts and locks a central column that allows you to make fine height adjustments when glassing and shooting. Twist the collar counter-clockwise to loosen the collar and move the central column to the required height and retighten.

Mountain Ascent - Tallest Operational Height - Standard Centre column

(Extended) = 135cm

Woodland Ascent - Tallest Operational Height - Standard Centre column

(Extended) = 188cm

Optional Center Column Extender

There is an option to increase the operational height of your ascent tripod, by installing an extension to the center column. This gives you an added height of 5 ½ inches.

Mountain Ascent - Tallest Operational Height - Extension Centre column
(Extended) = 150cm

Woodland Ascent - Tallest Operational Height - Extension Centre column
(Extended) = 202cm

Stability Hook

A removable hook can be attached to the base of the centre column. This hook allows additional weight, such as a backpack, to be suspended from the tripod to increase stability in windy conditions or uneven terrain and act as a ballast.

Leg Height Adjustment

Each leg features a 4 part leg with twist-lock adjustments for changing the tripod height. To adjust the leg length, rotate the leg lock counter-clockwise to loosen it. Extend or retract the lower leg section until the desired height is reached, then tighten the lock by turning it clockwise. Before tightening, ensure that any upper leg locks are fully secured to maintain stability. Each leg section has an aluminum collet allowing you to remove each section when needed without fully disassembling the leg.

Removing and Using the Legs as Trekking Poles

The Ascent Tripod legs can be removed and used as trekking poles, helping improve balance and endurance when travelling through mountainous terrain. For added comfort, Spartan Trekking Pole Handles can be attached to the legs, providing an ergonomic grip and adjustable wrist straps for long treks.

All Spartan tripod legs are compatible with the Ascent system. This allows the tripod to be configured for different environments. For example, Tac Legs can be installed to create a compact mini tripod setup.

Feet and Ground Traction

Each tripod is fitted with a stainless steel tip and tethered synthetic rubber boot. Gently pull off the synthetic boot to expose the stainless steel tip for better grip on difficult terrain.

All feet have a flat edge to allow a spanner for removal to enable use of purchased Spartan foot accessories such as Claw Feet, 2 Part Foot Spikes and Snow Shoes, essential when turning legs into trekking poles.

Compatible Accessories

The Ascent Tripod is compatible with a range of Spartan accessories designed to expand its functionality in the field. To mount a rifle to the Davros Pro head, one of the Spartan Classic Adapters must be installed on the rifle.

The Heavy Duty Optics Adapter converts the Davros Pro Head into a highly stable platform for spotting scopes and cameras. The magnetic attachment system allows the adapter to be installed quickly, while the adjustable lever provides additional security. For lighter equipment, the Light Duty Optics Adapter allows the Davros Pro Head to support compact cameras or spotting scopes with a standard 1/4"-20 thread.

The Binocular Tripod Adapter allows binoculars to be mounted quickly using the MagnaSwitch™ attachment system. Its low-profile design fits easily inside a binocular harness and improves stability when glassing. Trekking Pole Handles can also be attached to the tripod legs to create durable trekking poles with ergonomic grips and adjustable wrist straps. For snow or soft terrain, Snow Baskets and Spikes can be added to improve traction and stability while trekking.
