What Makes Kildemorie Worth the Trip?
Kildemorie Estate isn’t just a slice of wild ground. It’s a working hill and a gathering place. Madeleine Pettersson came here alongside our very own Spartan founder Rob Gearing and a handful of other hunters. This film is about the ghillies who shoulder the rifles, the venison shared after a long day, and the way a few days on the hill can turn strangers into a team. The stag is part of it, but it’s not the whole story.
How Do You Hunt When the Weather Won’t Cooperate?
Day one was all fog and low cloud. Sam Whiting, the professional stalker guiding Madeleine, spotted a good stag but the mist quickly shut them down. They backed out rather than risk a bad shot. Day two was clearer. Madeleine and Sam climbed higher to get above the banks of low cloud. They found a red deer, moved carefully around a group of younger stags, and set up for a shot that had to be right the first time. Patience was their only option and the best chance they had to succeed.
What Gear Gave Madeleine the Edge?
Hunts like this are why we build the Javelin Pro Hunt Tac. When the ground is soft and the weather turns from drizzle to sideways rain, you can’t afford a wobbly platform. The Pro Hunt Tac’s carbon‑fiber legs and spring‑assisted deployment let Madeleine get prone quickly and stay steady in the wind. It clips on via our magnetic MagnaSwitch™ system in seconds and locks tight until you’re ready to move again. It’s the kind of tool you don’t think about until you need it, and then you’re glad it’s there.
To really understand what went into this hunt, you need to see it for yourself. The film below captures the highs, the waiting, and the final moment when everything comes together. Watch it to get a sense of the terrain, the teamwork, and why having the right gear matters when the shot finally comes.
