Mini Tripods

There is no single 'best' mini tripod for mountain hunting. The right choice depends on the terrain you hunt, the rifle you carry, and the type of shooting you expect.

The Hoplite is built for hunters facing steep angles and difficult shooting positions. Its integrated ball head provides a stable base and a wide range of articulation, making it easier to build a stable position on challenging terrain.

The Ascent (Mountain Configuration) is another excellent choice for mountain hunting. Its removable legs double as trekking poles, reducing the amount of gear you need to carry while allowing a higher maximum shooting height.

The Hoplite prioritizes minimum carry weight, while the Ascent offers additional versatility for longer days in the mountains.

In many situations, yes. A small tripod provides the stand and stability of a three-legged support system while remaining compact enough for mountain hunts. That additional point of contact can make it easier to build a stable shooting position, especially on uneven ground where a bipod reaches its limits.

A bipod is still an excellent choice for many hunts. Systems like the Javelin are lightweight, fast to deploy, and ideal for hunters who primarily need portable rifle support. A mini tripod, however, offers additional versatility. The same system can be used for shooting, glassing, and spotting, reducing the amount of equipment you need to carry into the field.
