Hoplite Mini Tripod - Product Guide

Hoplite Mini Tripod - Product Guide

The Hoplite Mini Tripod is the smallest Tripod in the Spartan Range. However its probably the most versatile. For a tripod which neatly fits in your pack it still supports HD optic and Rifles, We would use over a bipod and doesn't have any drawback from other tripods. Attaching Your Rifle

The Hoplite Mini Tripod comes with a MagnaSwitch™ module and an optional Disc-Lok™ Module allowing for connection to both Spartan attachment systems. We would recommend running the MagnaSwitch™ System for this tripod.

To attach your rifle, first install one of the Spartan Classic Adapters onto your rifle stock. Once installed, align the tripod’s spigot with the slot in the adapter. The integrated magnet will guide the spigot into position and help secure the rifle during use.

To remove the rifle from the Hoplite Mini Tripod, simply pull the rifle upward from the spigot. If additional leverage is required, use your thumb to push up against the underside of the rifle stock while lifting.

Mounting Optics and Cameras

The Hoplite Mini Tripod can also be used as a stable optics and camera support platform. Using Spartan’s range of Optics Adapters, you can mount spotting scopes, binoculars, cameras, or other observation equipment. When paired with the HD Optics Adapter, the tripod supports the industry-standard 1/4-20 UNC and 3/8-16 UNC threads commonly found on optics and camera equipment.

This allows the Hoplite Tripod to serve as a compact and versatile platform for both shooting and glassing in the field.

The Hoplite Tripod Body

The Hoplite Tripod features an integrated ball head system built directly into the tripod body. This design provides a wide range of articulation while maintaining a low centre of gravity for improved stability. A side lever allows the head to be tightened securely when a fixed shooting position is required. The head friction adjustment lever enables users to adjust how freely the ball head moves within its housing. This allows the resistance to be tailored depending on the weight of the rifle or optic being supported.

Unlike traditional ball heads that sit on top of tripods, the Hoplite’s control unit is integrated within the body itself. This lowers the overall centre of gravity and reduces the distance between the tripod and the rifle stock, improving stability and shooter control.

Modular Head System

The Hercules features a modular head unit with a removable central module, allowing users to adapt the tripod to different applications. The head unit accepts the following compatible modules: Disc-Lok™ Spigot, 12mm Spartan Magna-Switch Spigot, and Pan Head Converter.

Modules can be quickly exchanged by loosening the lever, pulling the module release knob outward, and replacing the module with the desired option. The head unit also includes cord slings for hanging ballast, improving stability without interfering with the articulation of the ball joint.

This modular design allows the tripod to be rapidly adapted for rifle shooting, optics use, photography, or filming. Simply exchange one module for another.

Disc-Lok™ Module

The Disc-Lok™ spigot module is a Spartan design that features a 16mm stainless steel spigot. This forms the mechanical locking connection point for the rifle adapter.

The Disc-Lok system is compatible with Picatinny Disc-Lok adapters, M-Lok Disc-Lok adapters, HD Disc-Lok Arca-Swiss adapters, and HD Disc-Lok Picatinny adapters.
Note: The Disc-Lok module is not compatible with 12mm Spartan Magna-Switch adapters.

12mm Spartan Magna-Switch Module

The 12mm Magna-Switch module uses Spartan’s magnetic attachment system. It is compatible with the full range of Spartan Classic adapters, including optics adapters.

The key advantages of the Magna-Switch module include fast mounting and removal, secure magnetic engagement, and it is ideal for hunting scenarios where speed and stability are critical.

Pan Head Converter Module

The Pan Head Converter module is designed to allow the Hercules to support optics or cameras. It is a flat-based module featuring a 3/8"-16 male screw. The 3/8" thread is the industry standard used in the optics and photography industry. This allows the Hercules to mount camera ball heads, optical mounts, and commercial camera equipment.

Leg Pitch Positions

The Hoplite Tripod features multiple leg pitch positions to allow stable setup across challenging terrain. The tripod supports leg angles of 23°, 35°, 51°, and 74°, allowing it to adapt comfortably to steep slopes, uneven ground, and mountainous environments.

To adjust the leg pitch, pull the latch located at the shoulder of the leg and move it to the desired position. When narrowing the leg angle from its widest setting, the latches will automatically close incrementally into the selected position.

Note: If the shoulder latch does not adjust automatically, this will be due to the tension spring on the underside of the leg shoulder, this can be tightened or loosened as desired.

Double Pull Leg Height Adjustment

The Hoplite Tripod uses a spring-assisted double pull leg system for fast and precise height adjustment. The upper leg section features a push-button mechanism that allows quick incremental adjustments. Press the button on the upper leg and extend it to the desired height.

Note: The spring-loaded lever should be fully pressed in when adjusting to reduce chance of leg noise.

The lower leg section uses a twist-lock mechanism for larger height adjustments. Simply rotate the lock counter-clockwise to loosen it, extend the leg to the required length, and tighten it by twisting clockwise. This combination allows both fine adjustments and larger height changes depending on terrain and shooting position.

Note: The Twist Lock leg only needs half a turn to loosen and retighten.

Removing and Changing the Legs

The Hoplite Tripod uses Spartan’s M14 threaded leg system, making it compatible with the full range of Spartan tripod legs. To remove a leg, simply rotate it anti-clockwise until it unscrews from the tripod body. Once removed, the leg can be replaced with another compatible Spartan leg option.

For example, fitting 19.5–42” Pro Legs allows the Hoplite to be configured as a larger tripod system, increasing its versatility in the field.

Feet and Ground Traction

Each Hoplite tripod leg is fitted with a tethered synthetic boot designed to protect the steel tip and provide traction on a variety of surfaces. When additional grip is required, the synthetic boot can be removed by gently pulling it off to reveal the steel spike tip beneath. This provides improved traction on slippery ground, rocky terrain, or uneven surfaces.

All feet have a flat edge to allow a spanner for removal to enable use of purchased Spartan foot accessories such as Claw Feet, 2 Part Foot Spikes and Snow Shoes.
